This collection contains solo piano music and popular songs published between 1894 and 1922, the first golden age of American popular music. Several of these works are heard for the first time in a modern recording. All of these tunes were inspired by or linked to New York City in their subject matter, title, or place of publication. Songs include: Harlem Rag, The Sidewalks of New York, Bowery Buck, Wall Street Rag, Give My Regards to Broadway, Take Me Out to the Ballgame and many more!
This uniquely American music reflects the optimistic spirit and energy of a period of great industrial and social change in the United States. It is an aural time portal to daily life in New York a century ago.
Featuring acclaimed Pianist Richard Dowling
