The Museum of the Moving Image has been hosting a retrospective of the work of puppeteer Jim Henson since early summer and will continue by extending the exhibtion from Jan. 16 through March 4th 2012.
The exhibition features artwork, props and puppets from Henson’s work on films and television shows like Sesame Street, The Dark Crystal and Fraggle Rock, and has hosted special guests like the longtime Henson colleague Frank Oz; family members Brian and Cheryl Henson; and Kevin Clash, the Muppeteer who performs Elmo. The Museum has also reached hundreds of school groups visiting the museum for guided tours and education programs. Overall, the exhibition has drawn nearly 90,000 visitors since its opening on July 16, the museum said, and is expected to have more than 100,000 visitors by the time it closes.
